UMA Armor Sets by Aerie Softworks [RELEASED]

Each armor asset is a collection of stylized armor pieces to be used with the Unity Multipurpose Avatar System 2 (UMA 2). Each set includes full, distinct male and female outfits with total of 12 individual pieces. The sets are designed to be interchangeable with each other and other standard UMA 2 content. The leg and chest pieces are created to be complete replacements for the standard UMA 2 body slots.

Feel free to post any questions you might have about the asset to this thread and I’ll answer them as soon as possible.

Thanks!

IMPORTANT: These armor sets require UMA 2. Legacy version of the overlays as well as a PBR version have been included. The PBR version require UMA 2, UMA 2 PBR, and Unity 5.

Yay!
I was tracking for Stronghearted Studios, great to find your post here hehehe =D
We have a open UMA Skype group, and most UMA content creators are already there. I´m trying to gather everyone together so we can improve UMA and share knowledge. If you´re willing to be part of the group, plese send me a PM with your skype ID.
Again, amazing work! Hope you get a lot of money with this set!
Cheers

I will be getting this!

I hope more creators start making assets for UMA. It has so much potential.

Thanks, guys! PyroStudios, I couldn’t agree with you more. UMA is a great framework already, and it’s still very new. It has a bright future, just needs a variety of content.

Hello Jzela. I bought your asset some days ago and tried it out just now, it is great ! Just wanted to give you an heads up the example scene doesn’t work out of the box for me I had to make each texture readable.

tcuvillier, sorry about that! I didn’t realize UMA requires that the textures be read/write when using Unity Free. I will fix it in the next update.

You can also use the OverlayLibrary inspector to change the read/write property on all the textures at the same time. You check the “read/write” checkbox and hit apply. This apply button will also compress the textures if the “compress textures” checkbox is also checked. This may or may not be desired depending on your specific needs.

I’m glad you like the asset. I intend to add another overlay (maybe more than one) to it in the future for more variety. I am also working on another new armor asset right now that will be fully interchangeable with this one.

Thanks!

I’m curious, is it possible to get an fbx of the models in order to extend this (adding spikes + the like) if we want to in the future? I’m buying it almost as a quick start to building more and curious about just using it out right as a base. Thoughts?

Oh I’m also curious about the polygon count on the pieces?

@SirManGuy,

The package comes with the FBX files for each piece. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t use it as a starting point for your own UMA armor. You could also create additional texture/UMA overlays to give this specific mesh a variety of looks w/o modifying it. We intend to expand the Guardian Set with at least one more overlay in the future, in addition to releasing other sets of armor.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

Triangle Counts for Guardian Set (Style A):
Male Chest - 2048
Male Shoulders - 320
Male Boots - 960
Male Hands - 1576
Male Head - 966
Male Legs - 1714

Awesome! Yeah we were thinking of making different overlays as a quick way to have some prototype art this is perfect. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.

WE NEED MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE KEEP GOING GUYS ITS AWESOME

i want to get it too

@kiugetski, thanks for the kind words! Our newest armor, the Sinister Set, was submitted to the asset store last night and should be available in the next couple of days. Don’t worry, there is more on the way.

Thanks!

allright perfect

Would you mind writing a quick tut how you did this. I just bought it and thought it was ready to go out of the box. I’m not sure how you would apply the textures. Thanks.

Palaxe, sorry about that. The easiest way is in my reply to tcuvillier.

“You can also use the OverlayLibrary inspector to change the read/write property on all the textures at the same time. You check the “read/write” checkbox and hit apply.”

Let me know if that doesn’t work for you.

Oh EASY… Thanks so much
BTW I’m looking forward to purchasing all your other armor your coming out with. Keep it up

Guardian Armor Set version 1.2 was just approved on the asset store. It contains the following changes:

  1. Added a new overlay for a worn, muddy, and bloody version of the armor for more variation. This will show up as overlay “Style A2” in Unity.
  2. Changed all textures to 1024 True Color from 2048. The intent is to add at least another overlay and with textures of 2048 the download size was getting out of control. 1024 seems to be more practical for most uses anyway.
  3. Fixed to correctly set the read/write attribute on the textures for Unity Free users.

Thanks!

These are fantastic! Is it possible to use the chain mail legs and top without the plate mail? I am wondering how easy it would be to have layer-able parts in UMA. Can slots overlap? Might be nice to be able to use pieces of your future armor and mix and match. That way you can have NPCs in the game with a variety of clothing options without too many unique pieces.

@Teila, thanks! Slots do/can overlap in UMA, however the armor sets have had the non-visible polygons removed for optimization reasons. So, the chain you see on the chest armor for example, is really only covering the shoulders and doesn’t exist under the plate. It has been cut away to reduce the overall poly count of the armor.

Thanks!

Makes sense, thanks Jzela. Optimization is always good. Looking forward to future releases from you.

where to buy the Sinister Armor set?
is on your homepage as released but didnt see it in the asset store?
