Though Beast seems great and all the processors are peaked while running,
Umbra uses only a single processor core.
Are there any plans to develop multi-threading for this program?
This is a prime candidate for improvement in future versions of Unity, although I can’t give you any kind of timescale at the moment.
Bump!
It looks like Umbra is using some of my processors. The total average CPU use anyway is only 10%.
This means the rendering process could be around 8-10 times faster, right?
And from Unite’s announcement we are talking about much much faster in 3.5!
I have to admit I have hopes it could end up being a useful asset in the production pipeline in 3.5. It’s just unfortunate it will be released over a year after first introduced… and dozens of hours lost to figure out it just doesn’t work with more complex environment than an outdoor city with blocks.
Ahhhh THAT’S great news
