Ummm, this seems a bit odd

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2009/08/prweb2802474.htm

Not sure what to think of this…wasn’t aware that Playnet and Unity were partners. Seems like something is amiss with Unity here.

That’s not this Unity. There is a second 3d engine out, but called “Unity 3D”. This engine is just “Unity”.

You’ve got to be kidding me. :?

Except that looking at this site’s name, Unity 3D is part of Unity Technologies’ brand. :o

Seems like one or other will have to win the fight ^^

Yeah, especially when at the end of the press release it reads:

This is why we call and refer to the product as “Unity” and not Unity 3D. The Playnet folks have had that name registered and in use for ten years now. The only time we refer to “unity3d” is in our site URL as “unity.com” has also long ago been in use (for over a decade) by an existing company.

The product is called Unity. Period. No 3D tacked on. Unity. Get it.

Yep, got this in my Google news alerts. Very confusing! But that’s okay… it’s almost beer:30…

Hehe, I wonder, if those guys use “Unity 3d” as their product name, UT uses “Unity” as product name, why not switch domain names?

Thatz why I is confuzzzzed !

Well, unity.com is Unity Microelectronics, Inc. Playnet, Inc/Playnet.com (makers of the Unity3d Engine) points to http://www.battlegroundeurope.com/.

Haha, ok, then UT should simply go and buy those unity microyadayada company to get the domain name…
