Unable to create new unity project

I am using Unity 5.1.0f3 and I am unable to create a new project.

When I open up unity I am presented with the splash screen where new project icon is displayed in the top right hand corner.

However, upon clicking it nothing ever happens. I have checked in event viewer to see if I can see any error message but there isn’t any.

Has anyone come across this before?

It’s a bit of a long shot, but you could try lowering your UAC (User Account Control) setting in the control panel (assuming you’re using Windows). You’ll find it in the same place you can modify user accounts & privileges.

In the end I found signing out of unity and working offline allowed me to create a new project.
