Unable to find updates for Unity3d

Hi,

I have been trying to “check for updates” within Unity3d, but the software keep mentioning that it is up to date. On the main website, I can see that the new version is out for quite some time now. Kindly let me understand what should I do.

Also, apologies, if there is already a thread created for this issue. I couldn’t find any, hence created one myself.

P.S. Current version 4.1.5 on my system, and 4.2 on Unity website.

Its possible the check for updates function is broken in that release,
or they have not updated the version server yet.

Anyone who found out about the update trough the unity editor?
(I saw the update on facebook)

We typically delay bumping the “current version” on the update check for a few days so we can gauge the feedback from the community. When the update check tells a user that there is a new version our servers get hammered with people downloading the new version. We just want to wait in case there are any major issues with the new release.

Just to be clear, even if Check for Updates isn’t telling you about the latest version, you can still download and install the latest version from the Unity web site. But the update will upgrade your projects, so you may want to back them up first.

I fixed that for you.

Thanks. That made perfect sense. Will wait for few days then.

Host of “Cooking with Unity” tutorial was talking about new addition of quad in their live feed yesterday. I didn’t saw it anywhere else though. That’s why all this confusion and a thread.
