Understanding Native Crashes Increase - 2021.3

Hey there! After moving to version 2021.3.22 from 2020.3.40 we’ve noticed a significant increase in crashes. While we had similar reports before the update, in most cases it was either a driver issue or overclocked GPU. That does not seem to be the case anymore and now around 5-8% of all players experienced crashes.

I’ve looked through dozens out of thousands of crash logs but was unable to find any pattern when it came to the devices or in-game logic. Old GPUs, new GPUs, Radeons, and Nvidia. All families of CPUs imaginable. Everything from old laptops with Intel HD graphics to top-notch machines.

All crashes have some variant of CxxUnhandledExceptionFilter in the messages, which from my understanding do not bring anything to the table. While I can be absolutely wrong, all stack traces seem to mark the crashing thread as the one managing External Crash Handler, which makes it more difficult to figure out. As is often the case - we are unable to reproduce those crashes on any of our dozen or so devices. I’ve posted a few examples in a post below.

I know that looking through the raw crash logs must be one of the most frustrating and ungrateful tasks on the planet, especially with so little context, hence I’m even more grateful for any shred of advice.
