UNET Match Maker: Not open source?

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could tell me if the Unity 5.1+ UNET Match Maker which apparently is run by Unity Technologies is able to be compiled and hosted on my own equipment. I have nothing against the offering Unity is providing for people to use, but I can forsee some limitations in regards to CCU in different game genres (shooters/racing/etc).

For example, I may want to tweak the code so you can specify conditions like minimum amount of players or integrate it with some “premium” setup so I can have a special game mode that looks for people waiting for players with premium status.

I have not fully read the Match Maker documentation, and I intend to do so, but since I’m using Unity Free, I don’t want to have to pay monthly fees for CCU upgrades or give players a “Matchmaker is overloaded, please wait a little bit and try again” error in my game.

I’m assuming that the UNET Match Maker is a free-but-pay-for-extras module and a way of Unity Tech to make some extra profit, but I could be completely wrong.

Thanks!

Currently it is not open source. You will have to do your own system.
