I’ll be attending as well. I’m going to be driving down from Oregon. I do have friends down there but I’m debating whether I should stay with them or get a hotel. They’re all East Bay (Berkeley, Richmond) so getting there every morning will be a pain in the ass and I imagine it will be difficult to hang out with the community. Can’t wait for details.
So is there a hotel of choice that people like for this event?
Booked the plane tickets today, but still need to sort out accommodation. Can anyone recommend anywhere in particular, or is there a “Unity Approved” hotel :P?
Any recommendations of hotels that are within walking distance or easy access to public transportation to the center as I would like to be able to not have to rent a car?
The “Travelodge Golden Gate” is within walking distance. Just a motel, but from the ratings it sounds clean and ok, but no luxury. A few ppl have booked there already.
Just booked into the “Traveldoge by the Bay”. I tried for the Goldengate one, but it looks like it was booked out of single rooms, and it was a little more expensive. I believe the Travelodge by the Bay is a bit closer to the Fort Mason centre as well.
Anyway, hope to see you all there!
Any idea of how the schedule is going to look like on Friday? Trying to figure out if it is worth staying in SF until Saturday or leave Friday later in the afternoon…

Unity Awards in the morning followed by sessions after that. Friday won’t run as long as the other days but it’s still a solid day being offered.

Does anyone know of the bestway to get to travelodge golden gate for SFO airport? I specifically book that place so I would not need a car to get from and to the conference (now just hope the weather holds out). Anyone know what the rates for taxis are, I know the motel is about 17 miles away for the airport.
It would probably be much cheaper to take BART (train) into town, and then bus or taxi from there… I am also going to look at airport shuttles (supershuttle). Usually takes a bit longer, but it is door to door for a flat fee.
Yea I think I will do that too. $32 for a round trip is not bad and I don’t mind if it takes a little longer for door to door service. Maybe I’ll see you around.
Super Shuttle is one good option but depending on your exact drop-off location it can be $20 (+/-). Taking a taxi in will cost in the area of $35, but again that will depend on your exact location and the Fort Mason area will be on the higher side. You can take BART from the airport to downtown SF for $5, but then you’ll have to bus it from there (another $2 + time/hassle).
