Unity 1.5 is crashing for just about any reason. Help!!

I’m still using version 1.5 of Unity. It’s been about 2 years since I last used it. Originally, I was using it on a PowerMac G4, but since then, using the Apple-provided Migration Assistant, I’ve transferred all of my apps and files (including Unity) from the G4 to a PowerMac G5.

Now that I’ve started using Unity again, I’ve noticed that it’s crashing for all sorts of reasons. If I add a light to the scene, it crashes. If I add a particle system, it crashes. If I press a button at some random moment, it crashes. It’s driving me crazy! I can’t use the app for more than 2 minutes before it dies.

Is it possible something got screwed up during the migration from the G4 to the G5? Has anyone experienced similar problems? If anyone has any ideas about what might be causing this, please let me know!

Don’t have Unity 1.x, but generally: if something with 3D just crashes at random moments I would assume that hardware and drivers impact it (especially graphic card and RAM related). check the error you get.

You should update to 1.6 in any case, which was the last of the 1.x series, but I don’t recall any crashes on my Power Mac G5. If there were any, it was rare and not something that should happen as you describe.

Quite seriously your first and only step for now is to upgrade to Unity 1.6.2. Do that first and then test again.
