Unity 2.5 crashing on start up

Heya,

I’m trying to run a freshly downloaded/installed Unity 2.5, but it’s crashing on start up. No window, no nothing, just the “Unity Editor has stopped working” dialog.

Tried a reboot as well.

I’m running Windows Vista Ultimate x64, SP1.

I can’t find the editor log to send. Where is it located?

If I remember correctly from the beta list, Vista needs some security setting to let Unity run.

Being a Mac person I cant help you further on. But check the documentation to see if it mentions anything about that

Im getting the same problem. Its really bugging me… Hopefully there is a patch or fix available.

Edit: I think I figured it out. Atleast this is whats in the Q A

Here on my Computer it is working with Vista Home Premium 32 bit and SP1.

Sorry not helping you but just want to inform you.

This worked! Thanks fitzy.

I am having the same problem.
Unity fails to start in Vista.

It was working until I tried installing Blender Python. After removing Blender Python it still fails to start. I even re-installed Unity with no improvement.

It appears there is some remnant of Unity somewhere that I am not cleaning out during uninstall.

Are there some Unity registry settings that need to be cleaned?

Disabling DEP for the Unity Editor worked for me as well, however after a few weeks of on and off trying to figure out this problem i’m a bit put off. I still have not found the Q&A section referenced by the poster (thank you very much sir for posting the info!) and i found nothing in either the Unity manual or the Unity FAQ that mentions this. It was only by searching the forums that i happened across this post.
