I own Unity 1 Indie and I downloaded the trial of 2.x recently.
But the installer has completely over written Unity 1 and now that the trail has expired I can’t use Unity anymore without buying 2.x
Uhm… I just wonder why you wouldn’t want to get 2.0x Indie, aside from price. Staying with 1.0x seems stupid, and it’s only advantage would be that it is cheaper. Just scrape together the cash, and get 2.0x. Without it, you’rte waaaaaay behind the times, and a lot of new features implemented in some of the projects people have here, not to mention getting people to be able to help you when you have problems with 1.0x would be a total pain!
And no, the is no way to get 1.0x back aside from emailing Unity tech support and seeing if, maybe if you ask nice enough, they even have a copy of version 1.0x. I doubt it, so you’re generally screwed. Sorry.
Hmm… the Trail Version… is that a version for outdoorsy people?
Anyway, I think that Dakta’s right. You’d be missing out on some great features like terrains, undo , GUI, networking, etc. It’s worth it–I’m sure you can scrape together enough for an upgrade…
I forgot, sometimes you have to answer a few questions for validation purpose, you know just that usual riddle stuff which wizards tend to ask you before casting some spells on you.
But yes, there are just so many improvements and additions in 2.x that we strongly encourage everyone to upgrade. Hence the reason that the 1.6.2 download link is so well hidden – it’s more than a year old and outdated by now
