good job, seriously if a user doesn’t have internet access and needs to run unity its a no go now…doesn’t matter if you already signed in to your account the last time internet was up …maybe 5mins ago, it now just doesn’t work if it can’t phone home upon starting the useless launcher… I guess making it possible to launch a project directly from its folder location via shortcut like any other production app would be too convenient an option to provide, when you can get users to go through this pos launcher instead - Unity logic I guess.
I thought 2017 release was a little weak (yeye it has a few things like timeline and scripting update but nothing I needed to use yet) so I haven’t bothered with the beta testing it up until trying this 0f1 release, but this change is really taking it to new low levels.
I think its something to do with the license change, I see my Legit Key no longer works on this version. Need to rebuy Unity and extend license, so I think needs net, also asset store is still rubish, asks me loging many times.
Im starting to think Unity wants people work ONLINE mode to snoop on us more, collect statistics… No as single user I do not wish to keep working ONLINE MODE
It was reported as a bug… up until I was told it was intended …“While the “blank screen” does not appear to happen on our end, it is necessary to either have a license file or internet connectivity during startup.”
Obviously using the free version I’d just expect it to work, and not need a license file for a free version, putting in details for the unity account that is using the free version the first time and having it login with that and remember that for offline use is fine… but requiring internet connectivity every damn time… I guess it seems just like the forum unity is having trouble remembering our accounts, now with the launcher aswel
I believe this case happens when the WI-FI is on, but without connectivity.
You may try to turn off the WI-FI and relaunch Unity. This may help your case.
