Unity 2022.3.5 LTS Bricks my SSD and GPU during Light Mapping

Hello,

I am in need of some help desperately. I work for a small educational game company recreating historical locations for students to explore. I am the main artist on the project so I am responsible for light baking. Recently my tech team had me upgrade from Unity 2019 LTS to 2022 LTS. This broke all our light maps so we had to rebake them. No big deal we thought. I set up the bake on my 3080 GPU (which had worked great in 2019) and walked away. I came back and found my computer frozen. I let it go for a few hours considering it is a rather large environment. It never unfroze so my tech team advised me to do a hard restart. Well, that actually corrupted my SSD to a point of un-usability and I had to pay $1,000 to get the contents of the drive transferred to a new version. Well we got the new drive installed and set up a tiny light bake which worked great in 2 minutes max. We then tried to ramp it up a bit. 16 texel density instead of 4. This immediately shut down my monitors again. I cannot wake them up and my keyboard will not allow me to input anything. I am so frustrated and confused. Please help. I can’t break another SSD.

Help,

Devin
