Unity 3.1 bug priority

I’ll start off by warning you all that this is a rant.

At our company we use Unity to develop previs material and simulations. As of unity 3 a bug was introduced that renders USB pedals unusable. The input is simply not handled and there is no work around as far as I know. I wrote a bug report and got a helping hand and a fix was produced which we tested. The support technician was very helpful and we were told that the fix would be introduced in 3.1. To quote “A version of Unity with a more features and fixes will be available within a month. This will include the Raw Input fix.”

In 3.1 this fix is not included and the answer we got is “What happened was that it was not included in the 3.1 release, as the AssetStore had priority. It should make it to 3.2.”

I’m not writing the name of the technician because I don’t blame him and I still thank him for his help. The fact still remains that we’ve paid for a piece of software that we cannot use. We’ve paid for a feature that we do not need. This bug means that we’re stuck in 2.6 and can’t use any of the other features in Unity 3. I was content to wait for the 3.1 release but now I have to wait for 3.2. Honestly I’m not even sure that this fix will be introduced then either.

Rant done.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Unity and the things the company is doing.
