Unity 3.2 Cinema 4D 12.032b 64-Bit import

Hello,

This is my first post and I’d wish I wouldn’t have to do it. I recently started using Unity 3.1 and was disappointed due to the buggy C4D import.

When I read, that 3.2 would fix all those problems I was all like “yeah!” and doing a chairdance…

…but Unity still throws the error “could not convert C4D”.

What I have done so far:

  • Install Unitiy 3.2
  • Install the required MS Hotfix
  • Deleted the old plugin-dir from the C4D dir
  • Ran Unitiy as Admin
  • Tried to import the C4D

Did I miss anything vital?

TIA

Tim

PS: sorry for my rusty english… it has been a long time since I last read/wrote/spoke

Could you paste error messages from Unity?

Sure:

Does Unity install the plugin? Which OS are you using?

There is the directory C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12\plugins\Unity-C4DToFBXConverter with 5 different files in it, so I guess it has been installed properly. The files are:

OS is Windows 7 Professional 64bit, Plugin “Version” reads “Plugin version: 3.03;”

Could you submit a bug with your file and configuration? Our testers will try to find machine with same configuration and reproduce the bug.

I will try… if I find the bug-submit page… I’ll start looking.

Ok, found it… uploading… and error… trying again… and error… great :S I’ll try emailing it…

I work with 12.032 and 3.2 too, but on a Mac and I have no problems, maybe its your 12.032__b__ ?? for me is no 12.032b avalible

I’m pretty sure it’s 32b, because the initial installation was updated to .028 and then again with the current updatefile.

so .032 works, .032b is broken? Great…

Cinema4D does not export phong edge breaks to the FBX format which means you cannot bring a model into Unity from C4D that has both phong edge breaks and animation.

My personal solution to this was just to not use C4D with unity, as much as I’d like to, this missing functionality makes it unusable for me.

Just something to consider before you invest too much time in C4D + Unity.
