Unity 3.4 ALWAYS crash

After installation I have tried many times to run Unity 3.4, but it always crashes.
Is there a patch that I must install?

What OS do you have? Did unity 3.3 run fine? What kind of crash is it? When does it crash?

Win vista 32. It always crash at the beginning, I have never seen the Unity3.4 interface!

got the same problem, just installed it on a fresh win7x64 - it always “crashes” or doesnt even start in the beginning. without error message or “stopped running” dialogue.

are there some known issues?

Here are some logs:

Have you run windows update any time recently, or put service packs on?

I do get the odd bomb myself with 3.4 while working and then pressing the play button, but never during startup. It could be it is trying to load the default project.

So, try holding ALT while it is loading, and creating a new project. How much ram does that computer have? what is it’s graphics card?

already tried ALT button, but it always crashes. Graphic card is an ATI RADEON 4650 1Gb. It worked with all previous version of Unity.

No problems here, worked with it hours in a row.

mine crashes before i can select anything, ALT does not work either. Ill try with 3.3 now

I have indie and it crashes some, mostly when coming back from MonoDevelop where it is (I assume) processing the file I just saved.

more people, press in the same thread http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/98192-Unity-3.4.0-crashes-when-i-try-to-run-it

3.4 works fine for me…

I have the same problem. I try install but in the middle crashes with the error mensage. I try in Security Mode, install works but not run, show a mensage: “A Required DLL file, GeometryToobox.dll, was not found”

WHAT A TRY??

The same problem with 3.3
=(

I’ve encountered these crashes during startup, editor-play mode and build&run.
I’ve changed projects, started from scratch etc… But after I work on my project for a day, boom; the same things start happening again.
If I start Unity like 50 times over and over, there’s a chance that one of those launches MAY BE properly executed.

This is a serious issue that needs to be adressed, ASAP.

Check your Windows DEP settings. When I went from 3.3 to 3.4, I had the old Unity.exe set as an exception and for some reason, it was preventing 3.4 from starting completely. That is until, I removed the previous Unity from the exception list and then I was able to start 3.4. However, like others, since moving to 3.4 I had been plagued by constant random crashes when hitting Play or as soon as coming back from VS Studio. At that time, I still had the new Unity 3.4 exe set as an exception. 2 days ago, I removed everything from the exception and went back to DEP setting of (option 1) just for windows and essential services and Unity 3.4 hasn’t crashed since then.

Argh! No crash in 2 days, I reply to this post and then Unity crashes twice on me back to back … I forgot to knock on wood after the post… that must be it.

Update: Removing Unity from DEP exception list has definitely helped. Although I still get some crashes, their frequency has dropped significantly.

Any word on the next update?
I switched over to Unity to save time on the tech side so I can concentrate on the creative side. I wish to return to that state as soon as possible. Yesterday I had over 32 crashes. Do I hold the record?

I recommend you install version 3.3. is the only way in which you can work with Unity now. Technical support is zero by the developers of Unity, is the same as talking to the wall … no answer.

I guess people who have a PRO license will have better support … I would not buy a program with technical support so badly, never .

I am currently using UnityPro with Windows 7 64bit. Everything works for me but I do get a lot more crashes than before. Maybe 1 every 4 hours of work or so? Sometimes less, sometimes more. I haven’t paid much attention, but I think it always happens after pressing play, as hippocoder said.

what is your experience with tech support Unity?
