Hey guys,

Anyone else having problems getting it to start??

It keeps asking me for a activation key or something like that!( i am using the free version)

The released version is actually 3.0.0f5 (the last release candidate) it seems so if you already have that, no need to download anything.

Anyway, congratulations unity!

little Sidenote.
Although 3.0 is great. Still it lacks something:
We asked for it many times, to have more features in Unity, and no we’re not talking about the special stuff, but the now in the industry COMMON stuff. (e.g. RT shadows, Render to texture, Glow, video). There is still many high end stuff left, for the PRO version. don’t worry.
This 3.0 release could be the chance…

I didn’t expect large changes anymore but i somehow thought that for the release version they would fix tiny stuff like quite some broken links from the editor to the docs (for instance several image effects), nevermind.

If anyone is having trouble activating Unity with a serial number, you can manually activate your own serial number using the form on this page: https://store.unity3d.com/shop/manual_activation.cgi (never mind the extremely outdated page style :wink: )

No, it did not work. I dont have a serial number but i am always asked for one.

And my license request is always refused.

Absolutely no reaction for me, there’s a message saying “No Text could be found for index 16” or something…

I just cant get past this:

I activated the 30-days Pro trial version and it is now working fine.

I hope there will be no hassle in going back to Unity3 free after trial expires.

On a more personal note, I’m just thinking to add iOS for $300 (last day of bonanza thanks to UT guys) and have Unity3 free + iOS basic.

same problem here… (version 3.0.0f5, just downloaded)

after minutes of waiting, i finally get sent to a webpage, then i click free , after some minutes waiting again, i get a message on the webpage telling me

“The serial number you entered is not valid. Please recheck the serial number and try again. To get a trial, contact support@unity3d.com.”

And inside the installer i get a popup with something like:

“An Error occurred with the internet activation server. The operation timed out (error number 12002)
Press OK to manually activate your softwate.
ID: ePAY: / WPSW : ”

then after clicking ok, i see a new dialog, but whatever i do, click etc… it won’t activate.

So, I’ve got a question: Does the new unity support OS X 10.4 ? Or is it Leopard-only, this could explain a lot for me…

The factor time.
The activation server is not god, if it gets too many request, part of them will be bounced likely to prevent it from crashing.
