Hi. Well, the question is pretty much asked already in the subject line. I’d hate to be an r-tard, since yes, I do understand that this has most likely been asked before, and yes, I do understand that specific features are (almost?) never discussed. However, I think it is quite apparent that there is a need to be able to access the mic via Unity, not through plugins, but right from the wonderous Unity itself. Will this -ever- happen, and is there a remote chance it might during the next release or so? Otherwise I need to start learning Objective C, easy as that. As well, plugins don’t work in the cheaper iPhone version, meaning that kinda blows, no pun intended. You get it? Mic - blow (talk/sneeze) - whatever ^^.
Plug ins work in Unity iPhone 3 Basic.
I don’t expect mic support in Unity anytime soon.
Oh! Thanks about the plugin clarification, then. Question being then, is there any working setup to get mic access with current Unity? Is it likely that whatever support there is for it now by way of hacks would be broken in Unity 3?
Search the forum. There was some Objective C code but I’m not sure it ever worked in any version of Unity.
the only mic support I’m aware of that it worked was with OS2.
With OS3+ Apple has messed with the audiosession stuff in a way that broke all working codes and so far nobody resolved that as far as I’m aware
Audio recording is doable… at least on an iPad. I just got it working a couple days ago. Haven’t tried it on my 3GS with iOS3 yet. If it works, I may post a sample file up.
