Unity 3 ps3 publishing

I just have a quick question:(And I’m not sure if these have been answered…)

Although I understand you need a ps3 license (Which I know I can’t afford :stuck_out_tongue: (nor would they give me one) ), ← wow, double parenthesis!

I’m curious as to what the license does exactly.

For example:
Is it possible to physically publish the ps3 game to a disc and test it on your ps3 without a license, and the license is just for publishing aspects?
(Because you can supposidely view what it would look like in the ps3/xbox/pc all from the same editor, so it would make sense.)

Or is it required to own a license before you can even port your game to ps3?

If it is not the latter, then is it possible to sell your game basically on your own website or by your self?

Is the xbox360 license the same?

I’m sorry if these seem like stupid questions.

Point me in the right direction please!
Thanks.

You must first have a valid PS3 license before you can even buy the Unity PS3 addon on top of your Unity Pro license.
And yes, the same goes for XBox 360, only for licensed developers, it will not support XNA.

Unity Wii is already available and has been for quite some time and should serve as a good indicator on the various aspects of such a licensing, including price and license conditions (per title license available to unity pro only. That though is granted anyway as your company must make much more than what you would need to be required to get pro to even have a chance to get a developer license for a console ;)) and alike.

Alright that’s what I thought. :
Thanks.

which version works with ps3 and xbox.

None.
PS3 and XBox 360 require an addon license, which you can only buy if you are a licensed console developer for said platforms.

For more information you best contact the sales team, only they can help you as anything related to console is under NDA aside of the price which isn’t publically mentioned
