Hi… i’m wondering when does Unity 3 will be available for download… i know some peoples have the beta version,… just want to know for the free version… (hope not to disturb with this question)

there are still many bugs with Unity 3 Beta - still alot of things to work on - so not too soon, but its coming together quite nicely

From what mentioned there will be no open beta.

Users of the free unity have to wait until U3 is released to gain access for which nothing but “summer 2010” is known which can be anywhen from now to sept / oct (I expect it to be somewhen in sept).

Normally one would have said that it will happen at Unite as the new versions in past years but this years unite is that late that it might happen earlier I guess :slight_smile:

Some questions.

If i buy today the Unity license, will I have the beta as well?? or the beta are only for the first people who buy it?

If i buy only the PC/Max license, can i produce and run it in my PS 3/360, and when i realease it I buy the license, or to run in those platforms i need to buy the license first?

If you buy Unity 3 Pro now you will get access at point in the close future.

and no you can’t run it anywhere else than pc / mac / web with that license.

every other platform has additional licenses (available for Wii, iPhone and Android at the time, the other platforms don’t exist yet).

Consoles in addition require that you have a developer license for the platform to even buy it.
Also the licensing for consoles is a bit different: Its per title and going by the current wii addon license prices, you can expect to pay at least $15k++ per title

will Unity 3’s Terrain going to accept normalmap?

I am always formating my computer or buying new one.

I can use the same license everytime i do that right??

If i have an laptop use on my pc and laptop at the sametime??

as answered on the U3 thread where you should look for such stuff: No, the terrain shader is still comparable to the current one for Unity 3.0
