Unity 3.x game development essentials tutorial not matching up with Unity 3.5.5

I’m working my way through the unity 3.x game essentials book and have Unity 3.5.5 installed.
There seems to be a discrepancy probably because I’m using a newer version of the software.

On page 143 setting up the outpost model there are a few differences in the book compared
to what I’m experiencing.

It lists a step to go Under Materials-Generation and set it to Per Texture.
I don’t see a generation box to set, it only has Import Materials,Material Naming and Material Search.
Is this something that is no longer in the software?

Secondly in the table based area under animations there is only
one entry in the table
idle
In the book there is
idle
dooropen
doorshut

Is there a known incompatibility with this version of Unity for the book tutorial?

Lastly the FBXImporter component in the Inspector, I don’t see the actual name “FBXImporter” anywhere how
do I know if that is what I’m using? What and where is it?
