Porting my Unity iPhone 1.7 project to Unity 3b7. When I try to make a build, it goes fine until “AOT cross compile System.dll”, but then it gets stuck at that point. After beach-balling for a few minutes, it beeps and stops the compile, no errors, and the XCode project is not built.
Interesting clue. Perhaps I’m calling a Mono method that itself relies on a namespace that got stripped out of Unity 3? If so, I should be able to figure out which one.
I’ll try changing the Mono version setting, I think I’ve got that set low. I can also try to build a demo project to verify that the hang is specific to my scripts.
It appears that the problem only occurs when I try to create the iPhone Xcode project while running Unity under MonoDevelop. If I run it standalone, it builds the project.
Perhaps its just running much slower and timing out?
potentially, unsure.
I don’t do development if I have the editor running in “debug session”, I only do debugging and performance testing related stuff then
I reproduced the problem with a new, entirely blank project (except for Standard assets.) This time it hangs on mscorlib.dll. It’s either very slow or completely stalled in MonoDevelop for some reason.
I submitted a bug report- I’m guessing they could put a warning in there, and it would have saved me a couple of evenings. Or maybe it’s fixable. Thankfully, it’s no longer a showstopper.
