Unity 4 activation window fails to load the page

I was just trying to install the new unity 4 to use it with the free edition.

Right after the magic first screen is loaded I get an “Error loading page, Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates”.

I’ve tried to check whether anything was getting blocked by the antivirus, whether my date and time were messed up and a few other things. I manually triggered the date and time sync and the time sync worked just fine.

There’s no reason for it to do this, unless there really is a problem with the certificate on the server.

Obviously, clicking OK on that error message, picking the free license and clicking OK does absolutely nothing.

I’ve had unity 3.5 free before on the same machine.

OS: Windows 7 64 SP1 with all updates

Can anyone provide a workaround or a fix for this, please?

I’m having the same problem, I’ve uninstalled a few times and i still couldn’t get it to work. So i tried it on my laptop and it worked on there but it still doesn’t work on my desktop.

If you could e-mail support@unity3d.com and let them know what’s going on, they can help you out.

I had the exact same problem.

I was able to get around it by disconnecting my internet connection and launching Unity again and going through the manual activation process.
