Unity 4 is gone so I assume everything in it will be free when 5 comes?

So everything in Unity 4 the 100 windows version for 1 pc / person is completely gone. I assume this means I am either screwed and can't publish the game I have been working on because I didn't buy unity when it was cheap or everything from 4 is going to be free basically screwing over long time users? Why is there no 100 licenses anymore like in 2012, 2013? Hardly anyone games on their phone it eats the battery life. People who buy games buy either PC or go for console exclusives like Zelda, Red Dead Redemption… Unity 5 really so I guess I am going to have to try and shove all of the bull I have learned about unity out of my brain to learn something more reasonably priced… No PC only license anymore?

Where can I buy an old pc copy of unity for $100?

Unity Free is, um, free.

Really? I’m not sure about the “hardly anyone games on their phone”.

What $100 license? There’s a NON-commercial student license for pro at about $126, but I know of no $100 license for Unity. (I mean, there is the $90 subscription without lock-in, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here)

Wait they will be bringing a new license solution for Unity? Just checking here.

Translation anyone?

I would have screenshot’d it if I knew they were going to change it but unity was only 100$ for PC Pro in 2012 and beginning of 2013. I would have never spent time on the software if I knew it was 1500 for pc license. Console licenses were 800 for the Unity end back then, but had additional more expensive licensing to release in the consoles media formats. Yes prices have more than doubled don’t know why you guys are denying it.

I meant the Pro PC license only , which no longer exists it now includes a bunch of licenses we don’t need or want to just start out and release something.

@Valvados -

I am not denying anything. I am just curious if they are bringing back the $100 USD license.

I would so buy Unity3D PC Pro if this was the case.

I’m pretty sure Unity Pro was never $100 unless you were buying a student license.

It’s not like one person is going to be able to make Crysis 3, so why charge the low end user for more than he is going to use, when he just needs 100$ worth of pro. All of us crappy $100 users are now screwed because of the new licensing system when ever that came out.

What the hell are you even talking about? This license never existed. There was Unity Indie, which is now free, but that hasn’t existed since 2009. Unity Pro has never cost $100, unless you got really good deal on a student license.

I am absolutely, positively certain that there was never any Pro license for $100, outside perhaps of student promotions or whatever (which I doubt, but wouldn’t know about).

Perhaps a special price on Unity Indie before it became free? But I’m pretty sure it’s always been free since 4.0. And I’m pretty sure console prices were never published in public (aside from some dev kits coming with bundled licenses in some developer programs).

In short, pretty sure wires have got crossed somewhere. Sure you weren’t looking at a dodgy knock-off site?

Unity has had a free version since 2.6

Sweet. I knew it’d been around for ages, but couldn’t remember when it started.

It used to be $100.00 before that.

No, it was $200.

O’rly?

What was the price of unity in November 2012 because that was the last time I looked until today when I seen the $1500 price. The $100 version was Windows / Linux. Nothing else was buildable, Mac/iOS was like $200 or something more., which I didn’t care enough to look into. PS3 was around $800 for just the unity builder, not including licensing for sony’s network. Those are the prices I remember, having never bought it maybe it was a 1 day black friday sale who knows, but I’m pretty sure it was a 1 user license for building Pro PC games primarily but also had linux.

At least read the link.

It was $1500.

I’m pretty sure there never was a 100$ license for Unity pro. I bought mine through Studica at half price (± 700€) on January 2013 and i had been saving for about 2 years before that. I’m sure i wouldn’t pass out the opportunity to get Unity Pro for 100$.
Console license prices are also never public to my knowledge.
