Unity 4 Project tab vs Unity 3 Project tab

Is there anyway to make this not absolutely useless again? Like it was in 3?

I’m sorry, but lack of a proper tree view is absolute killer for me. My eyes are darting left and right trying to read the asset list and it is actually starting to make me dizzy. If I have multiple folders open with content, I have absolutely no idea what folder they came from.

Is there a way to revert to the old style of tree view?

Has someone replaced it with a custom inspector yet? Please tell me yes.

I thought I saw this in the “What’s new in Unity 4.0” doc :

You can switch Project Browser to old-style one column layout in the context menu of the window (upper right corner).

So, to recap : If you click the little icon in the upper right of the project window, you can choose “One Column Layout”, which will put it back to the way it used to be

Aaaaaand I’m blind. Thats what happens after a 9 hour day.

Thank you.

And thank you Unity team for putting this in during beta :stuck_out_tongue: I remember moaning about it then too.

If anyone wants my new fancy ProjectTabWindow.cs script let me know >.>

And because it took me a while to find it myself, if you’re searching for something in the project panel and can’t figure out why the icon previews are coming up despite your old-style column layout, use the size slider at the bottom of the panel. The smallest level is the one-column layout.

Thanks for that one… now its just like in the stealth game tut… I had played with the columns but then u loose the favs. So this hint came very in handy cos in the view I always saw humanoid_??? with the slider on default. The list makes it much more easier to work with…

so long…
