Unity 4 wont start up again

Hi

I really need help badly. I have Unity Pro. It was working fine. It crashed during the import of a large package from the asset store.

Now it tries to start up - I see the splash screen for a while - then nothing.

I have uninstalled - reinstalled - put my project on a back disk to get it off my c: drive and tried again - nothing.

My registry software - CCleaner - is telling me I have open application issues with Unity.

How do I solve this? Please any help would be great.

“open application issues with Unity”
Assuming it doesn’t offer the option to fix it are there any options it offers?

Yeah Don, it offers to fix it, and I do, but it still doesn’t work.

I am at a loss.

Normally for difficult issues, I uninstall a program, restart and then run the registry cleaner app.
This can be helpful since sometimes some of the background operations may be running if you don’t restart.
This is not a fix all but can work in some situations.

I have tried to start Unity in safe mode and it seems to be trying to open a project that is not on my C: drive any more.

How would I get it to start with an empty project?

I will try your plan now and see if it works.

I also get the error ‘failed to initialize graphics’ in safe mode. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help Don - appreciate it.

Most likely in Safe Mode, the higher level graphics are not going to work.
if you uninstall/reinstall, you should get the project window on first launch, if everything uninstalled completely.
If you have some residual from a previous installation, the launcher may still be using some preference file from previous settings.

Yeah had a feeling the graphics may not be sufficient in Safe Mode.

It would seem from Support that importing large packages can cause problems sometimes. The package I tried to import was over 650 meg compressed. So stopping Unity during this process has really screwed it up!

Would be nice to decompress some packages outside of Unity and bring them in as assets

And it now works! The old project was the cause it would seem.

THanks for your help Don! Appreciate it.

Great, glad you are again operational!
