Unity 5.1.1 will not start. Stays stuck on "Checking license" screen

I just upgraded to Unity 5.1.1 and after installing it gets stuck on the “Checking license” screen when trying to start the software. I have a Unity pro subscription. I have tried uninstalling all Unity 5 versions and reinstalling and I still get this error. I am running Windows 8. I would submit a bug report but I’m not sure how to submit a bug report without being able to start Unity. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This is still a bug that occurs if unity is trying to activate while the ULF file in ProgramData still exists, deleting the file will fix the problem and allow unity to activate correctly.

No idea why the devs haven’t fixed this major bug yet…

Try turning your internet connection off. Then do licensing offline. Then turn on your connection again and complete process.

For more details on offline activation take a look at here (look for “manual activation”): Manage your license | Unity Hub | 3.0

Hi,
My unity is also stuck between sign in and license. Under Programdata there are no files to delete…?
What do I do?

Thanks!

Hey,

Like I said, there is nothing in that folder, and I deleted it, didn’t work. I also tried running as admin, didn’t work.

I downloaded the free version, I don’t even have a license, how do I open unity without it?

You can set date and time to current one.
