Unity 5.1.2f1 crashing - Lastest Oculus mobile, on Mac for Gear VR

Nothing but crashes with Unity 5.1.2.f1 when trying to use any VR setup for Gear VR build.
I’ve filed the bug reports.
Anyone else seeing this same issue?

We’ve seen this as well - starting with Unity 5…1.1p4. Seems like a 100% crash trying to enable VR or load a VR project on Mac…

Thanks for response. 5.1.p3 was working fine. Seems like one step forward and 1one back for every unity update.

I am getting this a ton too. It happens when I stop play mode in editor

I personally am having no issue at all with 5.1.2.f1 (macbook pro 15 early 2013, Yosimite and now El capitan) but the mac to the left of me (macbook pro 17 mid 2010, Yosimite) crashes when building for gearvr in 5.1.2f1 and 5.1.2p1. (Keep meaning to submit crash report, its a null access after an OVR call)

Macbook Pro 2014, Yosemite - crashes. No problem with 5.1.1p3. Anyone having problems please submit bug reports since I’m not sure Unity is fully aware of issue.

Not sure if this is the same issue, but as of lately I can’t play/start our game anymore. There are some loops to jump through before I can actually start. Those mostly involve stopping the oculus runtime, turn off the HMD, start the project, stop, enable everything and try again. It is really annoying

Unity 5.1.2p3 also crashes on Mac. Did manage to build one project successfully but opening any project simply crashes instantly.

I think Scott means 5.1.2P2, right? Or 5.1.1P3?

I had the same crash on play problem on a few of our Macbooks. Turns out we didn’t have the Oculus Runtime installed on those machines. Try installing it and see if it fixes the crashes for you on 5.1.2.f1. It did the trick for me.

I’m compiling for Gear VR and not running on the Mac. I already have the latest Mac OS X runtime but that shouldn’t be an issue anyway.

If you have an Oculus HMD connected to your machine it should not crash with 5.1.2p2. However, if you do not have an HMD connected it will crash when entering play mode. This issue is fixed in 5.1.2p3. With the upcoming patch, you will be able to run as well as build without issues on Mac.

Looking forward to it. Currently I can’t even load a previous (5.1.1p3) app that used to run.
Crashes and Unity will continue to crash every time it starts up.
Thanks for al the patches but hoping for a little more QA or at least heads up for some of the known issues.
Also helpful if Unity posted which Oculus release worked with each Unity release.
And maybe each Xcode release since unity and Xcode had some problems working together previously.

5.1.2p3 seems to be working on the Mac. Building for gear and previewing on Mac works fine.

Also having the same problem, Unity crash 5 times yesterday. It happens every hour, I keep losing work if I don’t remember to save the project. And now have a new bug with my cameras, they rotate in X on in play mode, have this error coming !camera.GetOrthographic() . I will install the Unity 5.1.2p3 and see if fixs . Thanks guys

I just got 5 and gets crash after stopping play mode…any fix for this yet?
