Unity 5.1.2f1, sporadic graphic card driver crashes with AMD R9 270.

With Unity 5.1.2f1

Dear Unity developer,

I have sporadic crashes with my Samsung Chronos 7, CPU I7-4core-4HT, AMD R9 270 (2Gig RAM) mobile card on my Windows 8 OS, if I run my unity project and working on my scene. The Scene in the project runs slowly (complex scene, but for my taste it is somehow too slow for my system setup) and it crashes with an error report, or it crashes the graphic driver and it crashes/freezes the OS sometimes too. My notebook is not even hot, if this happens. Much more complex, performance greedy applications, games doesn’t lead to these crashes. Last time (for 6-12 Month) I tested my game on Unity 4 and everything was okay.

Any idea why the graphic driver constantly crashes, if I run Unity 5? (My notebook is not even hot, works with Unity 4, works with modern high performance games, and on another system with NVidia 970, no trouble.) Probably the new NVidia physic library has guilt, or am I have to disable/enable some features on my graphic card?

Thanks for the answers in advance.

I appear to be having similar issues with my XFX R9 270 in Unity 5 as well. I’m running Windows 7 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, AMD Phenom II Quad Core 945, and I never ran into the driver has stopped responding with Unity 4, or getting constant crashes with system reboots. I’m running a Corsair 750 watt psu as well, so power doesn’t seem to be an issue. I ran Windows 7 memory diagnostics, and no issues found there.

Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit version of Unity 5? I’m running 64-bit. Also, this has been happening since 5.0 was released, and am currently running 5.2.1.p3
