Every time I adjust the window size of the unity editor or any size-adjustable part of Unity, e.g: The hierarchy or the inspector, the software crashes and I am forced to restart it via task manager. Any idea why and how to fix this?
I am new to this software so please bear with me.
Thanks!
UPDATE: When I click on a drop-down menu, Unity crashes as well
@aWolfKing Thank you for your reply. The thing is I havent even started on a project yet. I am using a fresh install of unity and I have encountered this issue. I have not touched anything or altered anything...
@crackyourspeakers
Not sure what your set up is like. But I work on a laptop and have the same issue. When my computer is plugged in, it’s fine but when its not, it crashes when I resize any editor windows. (it’s not a powre save setting issue either).
I’ve been talking with support and they’ve been helpful. Another solution is to force open unity in gl mode. The window flickers a little, but at least it doesn’t crash.
Right click your shortcut and go to properties. under the shortcut tab there is a input for “target”. at the end of the path paste " -force-glcore" without the quotes. then hit apply.
this has also stopped it from crashing when not plugged in to power.
Hope this helps.
ps I’m using unity 2018.2.0f2
Thanks so much! your work-around let me submit the app. I think this issue should be solved.. it's a bit.. weird..

– 4tesQI also get a crash when resizing, or randomly when I click a dropdown..
– CyRaidSo nobody has come up with a solution for this? This is becoming a major problem for my project.
– crackyourspeakersIt's selected by default, so yes, though I hadn't noticed the option before you mentioned it. So that's not the fix.
