My VFX artist and I were really excited when we saw the news that Unity 5.4 came with a feature called GPU Instancing. We want to make effects in Shuriken that abuse high particle counts for some of our effects and it isn’t feasible to get to the count we’re looking for without offloading that work onto the GPU. When we search for information on how to use GPU Instancing for particles I don’t see anything that talks about doing that AND one of the top search results is still for a Unity plug in that enables GPU particles in Unity.
Can GPU Instancing be used with Shuriken particles? If so, is there anything online that kind of gives an introduction to using GPU Instancing with Shuriken particles?
