Unity 5.4: Severe Performance Drops during Play mode (698ms spikes) (OS X)

Hi guys,

I have a problem here.

Yesterday I’ve updated my OS X El Capitan to version 10.11.6 via AppStore and today my project started experiencing severe performance issues in Editor only when entering play mode. Don’t have such problems when just browsing the scene via standard Scene view. When I click play I observe 689ms of constant load in profiler. By the way, the name of a culprit randomly changes from Unaccounted to UpdateSceneIfNeeded. What’s funny, other projects don’t have such problems.

What could be wrong with my project setup?

Now when I’ve created another project with transferring the Assets folder from the previous one the problem has magically disappeared.

Don’t know if Unreal Engine 4 has such problems but I would definitely try using it instead of Unity when I’ll have a chance.

Seems like “perfect” Apple screwed something up after the update. Glad to see it works great now… I would have recommended re-importing the project.
