Unity 5.5.0f3 - This version of Visual Studio is unable to open the following projects.

Hi,

I am just getting started with Unity 5.5.0f3 Personal (64bit) and Visual Studio 2015 (Version 14.0.25431.01 Update 3).

When creating a new project, creating a new C# script in Unity and then attempting to edit this in Visual Studio by double clicking, I get errors regarding the version being unsupported.

I have tried to uninstall VS
I hope I have provided enough information.

Below screenshots are received in order of appearing.

Error report:

This version of Visual Studio is unable to open the following projects. The project types may not be installed or this version of Visual Studio may not support them.
For more information on enabling these project types or otherwise migrating your assets, please see the details in the “Migration Report” displayed after clicking OK.

  • New Unity Project, “C:\Users\Public\Documents\Unity Projects\New Unity Project\New Unity Project.csproj”

No changes required
These projects can be opened in Visual Studio 2015, Visual Studio 2013, Visual Studio 2012, and Visual Studio 2010 SP1 without changing them.

Solved the issue!

I had already found and tried c# - Visual Studio 2015 for Unity3D Error "Incompatible Project" - Stack Overflow but I tried it a second time and worked so I guess I done something wrong initially.

Question is what cause this to happen I wonder.

Anyway I cannot delete the post so will leave it in case anyone else is having issues.
