Unity 5.5.3 bake crashes nvidia drivers and many running programs

Hi.
I have a new problem with Unity that I have not noticed before, running a bake often crashes the video driver, many programs then die as a result. Unity itself does not crash but all windows in Unity become white.

its happening to me aswell. I just get a black screen, no response. And the scene is not complex at all, it doesnt even have lights , just emmisive materials.

Nvidia card?

One of our scenes nwo crash every time, this is a threat to our upcoming update. I will try 5.5.3p4 and see if it helps

still crashes on 5.5.3p.It also freezes the mouse pointer for a few second.

In my case it can be hardware related i updated my Asus ROG Crosshair 6 Hero to latest beta bios 1401. (Ryzen 1800x). And now it didnt crash, but I need to make more tests before I can rule out bugs in Unity.

Nope, it was just fluke luck that the last bake worked, now it crashes again

Did you report a bug? What is the case number?

No I thought I first discuss it here. I updated to 5.5.4p1 and now it did not crash, but I get this result

For reference, this is how it should look like

At 1 texel it works, revert to 40 now. Takes two hours on a Ryzen 1800x to bake

Phew, it worked, no body touches the keyboard!!! serioly, I hope baking is more stable in 5.6 because this was not fun guys

@KEngelstoft Alot of wierd stuff is going on here. I noticed that I had alot of active shadow casters in the, i found the ONE light causing it. And its a baked light!

Baking is not updating in play mode, so it is hard to conclude anything based on flipping it on and off in your video. Do you still get shadow casters from it after baking?

the video above is after baking yes. (offcourse)

I sounds like a bug if a baked light is causing realtime shadows to be cast, can you isolate this in a smaller scene?

I bet the bug will not show if I copy only that light to a smaller scene. The scene takes about 1 hour to bake on a Ryzen (8 cores) so let me fix a few things and bake again if it happens then too I can create a unity package with only that scene, sounds good?

Still getting this bug often, its very irreating becasue it takes about two hours to bake this scene on a 8 core Ryzen

Ok so the bug with a light thats kept realtiem even after bake is reproducable, (The specular effect at the floor is from the real time light)

So you want me to create a unity package and create a bug report?
