hi all!
today I installed the new Unity 5.5 f3 .
Playing with materials,
Trying to find a solution , I have played with “Lighting tab>scene” and I have tryed to change all parameters.
At the end I have found that the problem comes out when the “compression parameter” of “reflection source” is set to “auto” or “compressed” ( as default) with skybox.
If i use the value “uncompressed” it works fine.
Is it the solution or have I something else to check?
It’s perfectly working for a scene, but everytime I start a new scene I have this strange purple distorsion again. Is there a way to change the “Lighting” settings so that it is saved for all my scenes and also games? I tried it but I just can’t find it where to change the “Lighting” settings permantly. I played “Life is strange” and on many objects the same strange effect occured, so I guess this is whenever they used reflection in the game…
Please help, I want to have normal reflections again! ><
Something similar happens to me in the preview window from time to time.
well, after your message I have tried to play again with that project that gave me that problem and I have tried to change the cubemap.
I have imported a new hdr image and I have set it as a cubemap in its inspactor ;then , in the light properties, I have set thet new cube map as the souce of reflections.
It works!
For some reason the default cubemap has been corrupted at the beginning of the new project created initially and it worked only if it wasn’t compressed…
now, with the new map, all work fine also with compression mode activated.
Unfortunatelly you have to set thet cubemap in the lighting reflection settings each time you create a new scene.
I have defenitelly solve the problem creating a new project !
Update Unity. Version 5.5 f3 isn’t really what you want. I’m making the assumption you’re doing this for fun so just update to 2017.1
If you’re locked to 5.5 for some reason then get the latest 5.5 patch you can find, 5.5.x from Download Archive
However if this is just a new project you really should target 2017.1
The issue on display is really old, I doubt it happens with new versions of Unity. If it does, then update your drivers.
