Unity 5.6 - GearVR camera set up for 2017 controller

Hi everyone, I am completely new to the Unity set up and coding. With the help of some fantastic online tutorials I have managed to set up my unity editor to build onto my Galaxy S8 and view my models in the GearVr using the standard assest.

I work in an architectural firm and I would like to import our 3d models into unity and develop a walk around experience of clients homes therefore nothing too onerous.

The problem I have is that the view in the gear vr is fixed in it position and will not allow the user to walk.

Does anyone know of a simple asset that will allow this to happen in Unity 5.6? I have the 2017 controller and would like to press the forward button to move forwards and the back button to move backwards.

I have tried everything with no luck.

Thanks in advanced and I would be grateful if anyone could help me out!

It looks like this asset might do what you are trying to accomplish Unity Asset Store - The Best Assets for Game Making

If by 2017 controller you mean the Gear VR controller (picture below) then my asset in my signature will allow you to use it as a dpad (press forward to move forward, left to move left, etc.).

There is an example provided for a first person shooter which showcases the dpad, but it would work just as well for a house walkthrough or similar.

We are venturing out in mobile VR, and are planning to try out the Gear VR with Unity and Samsung S8+ and S6 soon for our project. We were wondering if for the deployment on the Samsung phones to work, will the phones need to be unlocked, or will any Samsung S6/S8+ phone work for us? Thank you for your quick reply - this will help us order the correct phone on amazon for us to try out. Appreciate your help!

They don’t need to be unlocked. Any of the supported Gear VR phones work (s6, note 5, s7, s8, etc.).

Thanks, ill have a look!

Thank you I will look into this. I saw an asset similar but it said not for 5.6, looks like that one may be great!

Just want to say a massive thank you to Greg at LadmerTech, purchased the asset in his signature (https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/88829) . 100% recommend the purchase and company!

Thanks again Greg.
