Unity 5 Beta System Requirements

Hello!
I want to pre-order Unity 5 Beta and I want to be sure that my PC will run it.
I don’t want to buy it and then ask money back or something else.
I want to know what Intel CPU, Nvidia video card and RAM is necessary to run it
I mean about global illumination, new shaders, reflections, etc.
I suspect that I must to have a strong configuration for my PC.
Why? Because, I saw UE4 System Requirements and It’s a nightmare.
But, how about Unity 5?

I’m assuming you’re wondering about system requirements for the editor?

My guess is right now the beta is not optimized, and system requirements for the beta are currently higher than they will be for 5.0 launch. So you might want to wait until 5.0 is released.

But let’s just say it’s 64 bit for a reason, you’re probably gOing to want > 4gb of ram if planning on using enlighten, etc. Enlighten GI baking is currently very slow. Even on i7 5960x with 16gb ddr4 ram.

Overall though the unity editor system requirements probably aren’t as high as UE4. It depends on your scenes, shaders, and so on. RAM is probably the biggest thing, thankfully it’s relatively inexpensive.

philwinkel thanks for your reply!
So, my computer can run it, but I’m wonder about video card, how many GPU Cuda Cores it needs?

Hi,

it works just fine on my macbook with GT 650M, which is a little bit weaker than GeForce GTX 550 Ti and Radeon HD 5770.

None; Unity doesn’t use CUDA. As far as I know the system requirements are the same as Unity 4, aside from an increase in the minimum version of OS X (if you’re using a Mac).

I mean if I’ll use Enlighten GL: Global illumination, many shinny shaders.
For example for UE4 as developer but also as player I need an video card with over 1000 GPU Cuda Cores.
That is what I want to know, before, I’ll be able to start using Unity 5 Beta.

CUDA only is relevant to nVidia and isn’t a measurement for GPUs in general. Unity doesn’t have any specific hardware requirements for GPUs; it depends entirely on what you actually do.
