Unity 5 Pricing

I read somewhere last week (can’t find it now), that there would be a discount on the 4.x to 5 upgrade until version 5 was released. I checked the price on the Unity Pro upgrade for my license last week, and it showed $600. Today it shows $750. Has the discount ended? Does that mean version 5 is out, or that the discount ended early?

Ends Nov 13. It’s still Nov 13.

“Unity 5 pre-order offer ends November 13, 2014 at 13:00 CET”. It’s after 13:00 CET.

Bummer!

FWIW, I found where I saw that the discount is supposed to expire when 5 is released. As you can see, the expiration date that you quoted as shown elsewhere does not agree with what it says here, Unity Technologies FAQs, under Unity 5 Pre-Order Period (see bold section):

Owners of a Unity Pro 4.x perpetual license can pre-order Unity 5.0 for $600. If they also have Unity 4.x deployment add-ons, they can upgrade the add-ons to Unity 5.0, at $600 / add-on. This offer cannot be combined with any other current offers from Unity and expires when Unity 5.0 is officially released.

Unfortunately, that’s where I looked, got the wrong info, and decided to wait a few days. That date on your FAQ page not agreeing with the actual expiration date has cost me $300. As I said, bummer!

Yeah, that seems like a fairly significant mistake; they should fix that on the FAQ and maybe extend the offer for another week or two.

“Fairly significant” is putting it mildly. Based on the recent beta versions 5 isn’t going to be released for months.

Just a follow up: When I pointed out the inconsistency in the dates, I got a reply from the Store that they would honor the discount pricing for me. Hope that applies to others as well.

So no official comment here or in the “Unity 5 Is Coming” thread in announcements where I asked about the discrepancy, but they have revised the FAQ. That’s not a very customer friendly way of handling bad internal communication - it’s not like it was a typo or something.
