Unity 5 project upgrade issue

Really excited about building to webgl… however, I have been trying to get some unity 4 projects into Unity 5 and it doesn’t seem to be working very well. I was able to open a flappy bird clone, I made in 4, with Unity 5 but when I tried to test it out the game was broken. Now I am trying another project and it seems to be stuck in the upgrade process. Any one having similar issues or am I missing something obvious?

I haven’t had a single project upgrade correctly to Unity 5… Is this not a common issue?

All of my projects upgraded without problems.

Hmm… ok… maybe there are some major deprecated code issues that could be causing the problem. I did see this Unity Blog so maybe the script updater is having issues with my sloppy code. I did manage to get a very simple project updated but no luck with any html5 builds. I feel like I’m missing something very basic but crucial

Same Problem, script updater doesn’t work for me too, Why is that ?

I get about 55 error and script updater in Unity b14 doesn’t update any of them
But Unity b4 update my all scripts without problem
What should I do?

Depends on the errors. What kind of errors are you getting?

It says API updating failed
Any idea why?

Unfortunately for me I haven’t had any error reports. Either the project gets stuck on updating scripts or in the case of a flappy bird clone I did, it appears that it has upgraded but the game doesn’t’ work correctly. A mouse click is supposed to be a flap and sprite animations should tilt the character up on a flap and down on descent. After upgrading to 5 a mouse click does nothing and the character simple tilts down and goes straight through the game with no up or down movement.

Hey, I am having similar issues where none of my projects will upgrade and I am really looking forward to using all of the new features of Unity 5:(
Main problem is they get almost all the way to the end of converting and then unity crashes with a runtime error. WIN7 64 bit
One of my projects is 45 GB and another is only 6 GB
I am using some addons like playmaker, Oculus OVR cameras, and UFPS

Steps I have tested to try and get around this so far are

  • reducing size of my project.
  • removing any links and content for all my addons and random scripts
  • deleting all my lightmaps
  • stripping out almost all content except for vital working parts

Still no luck.
Creating a new project in the beta works well and I have also dragged some assets in there one by one to see if it’s my assets causing the issue and all was fine there. So I’m kind of stuck.

Bug report for that, please. It’s probably a bug in the updater.

Got a crashing editor.log?

Hey thanks for looking into this. I was unsure how to find my editor.log So I sent the bug report on crash that contained it. The reference number is 653417_6eh4dmm7dkolg2l0
