Unity 6 Preview new UI is...odd? Light mode looks way too bright!

Not sure if this has anything to do with this . Didn’t know where else to post this. But anyway, what do you think of this new editor UI? Seems like it was clearly designed for dark mode and not light mode, as light mode looks pretty jarring in my opinion. Way too bright.

It reminds me a bit to a concept that I discussed previously on another post I’ve made a while ago .

And why is the letter boxing around the Game/Scene view dark in the light mode?

Always has been, isn’t it?

Doesn’t make it right, to my mind. If I’m working in light mode I want a consistency.

Imagine having white letter boxing on the dark mode. It’s not right.

Oh, I understand, sure. It does look unbalanced here. It wasn’t bad previously, since the older light UI was more greyish:

The entire set of changes present in the 6000.0.7f1 looks off

  • As you mentioned, the color is too bright and unaligned with the actual tab contents
  • There’s still no option to customize that color, which would have solved everything
  • There are some misc styling changes, such as the bigger bar at the top, and icons getting cut off at the bottom for the inspector. It’s really odd.

I recommend whoever encounters this makes a report on the editor so that we can see a fix for this sooner rather than later, if at all :frowning:

The dark also looks way too dark in the dark mode.

Once you start working with it, it is really not that bad. The colors are almost identical to the ones in the 2019 concept. I personally like it.

At first I thought the editor was glitching, but nope! that is how it actually looked. Dark mode looks better. Hopefully the design will mature by the time LTS arrives (August perhaps?).

They are not the same as the concept, maybe the thats the goal but still I prefer the dark gray instead of black.
