Hi,
Released a game which has unity ads, specifically rewarded video ads.
It’s a puzzle game and when the user need an hint, he simply look a video and he gets the hint.
Thing is, with over 500 videos seen, my revenue is 6 cents, while any other ad company would have paid much more for such amount of rewarded videos.
I don’t clearly understand the 5k impressions thing, is that a way to say, that until 5k impressions, unity can “pay what they want” for the ads? I find this really demotivating for developers just starting out.
I am getting impressions for United States too, seems they are the only ones who show something other than 0 cents, and obviously the eCPM is very laughable anyway.
Here the game link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ihgyug.Continue
Hopefully I get an official reply with details on the situation, so I can decide better if to keep unity ads or change ad company.
Thank you in advance
Hi,
Sorry for delayed reply. I took a quick look at your data, and correct your eCPM is at the low end. However with 500 impressions, it might still be too early to make conclusions on revenue. You can take a look at our updated documentation at Monetization strategy, which has more information about which parameters drives ads revenue.
As you say, we’re in direct competition with other ad networks, and nothing prevents you from switching to a different network, alternatively integrate a mediation layer, so you can distribute your ad traffic across different networks and compare the performance. However I would be surprised if other networks would pay substantially more for the same traffic.
We don’t have any special logic in our code for first 5000 impressions, the “5000 impressions rule” is simply a guideline based on experience, as this is when we typically see that the traffic has “stabilized”.
Hope it answers your question. Ofc feel free to follow up, alternatively contact our support at unityads-support@unity3d.com.
Have a nice day and good luck with your games.
Best regards,
Rasmus
