Unity always crashes after opening a project

Hello,

I wanted to continue working on my Unity-Project but im not able to start the Editor anymore. When i select a folder to open a project or create a new one Unity crashes and all i can do is write and send an error report. I have used google and found several things that may cause the problem but none of the solutions has worked for me. I have tryed reinstalling it and cleared up the registry. I have tryed to disable my anti-virus-programm. I have tryed to run unity in compatibility mode. I have unplugged my 2nd screen.

Nothing works.

I know that my Problem is not based on my project because it also happens when i create a new project. I use the actual version of Unity (4.5.2.26843) and have no idea how to fix this problem. :frowning: And im not able to do something constructive right now because i cannot build my project without the unity-editor.

It would be very nice if someone of you could help me out of here.

If you are using Windows 8.x, you may try force d3d11 as described here:

Post the bug number you get when you send an error report. Or post the Editor.log. Hopefully it’ll include something that can help work out what’s happening.

Hello,

Thank you very much for responding. My Ticket-Number is 624041. I use Windows 7 btw.
I also got a mail in response for my ticket. It says i should check out if my pc is infected by malware.
In the meantime i have tryed to completely uninstall Unity with registry-entries and deleting all Unity-Folders i found, running CCleaner and Avira AntiVir.
Antivir didnt find anything on my computer (i updated it today). CCleaner deleted some temporary crap in my system folders. After installing Unity again its still the same Problem. Im going to try another security programms now because it was suggested to me in the email. If you have further hints for me i would appreciate it.

From my experience Avira didn’t like Unity since a few versions, that’s why I moved away from it. It is very likely that Avira is the cause.

I deinstalled AntiVir and replaced it with avast to make another scann.
Its not finished yet but i started unity after reading your post and IT STARTED .
Thanks very much for your help. It seems like some of the Avira updates caused the problem because unity has worked on my machine before.
