Unity and Facebook? How many real players installed?

I would be curious if anyone knows the number of installed unity web players for people who use Facebook. At Unite Unity said they had about 40 million installed players world wide and growing at a rate of 2.5 million a month with a 70% success rate.

Looking at the web space and social networks I would be curious how many people have the player installed and use Facebook , if any dev that has FB game and willing to share it would be nice.

For example if the player base is like 100,000 thats quite small compared to the 200 million or so who play the flash games. I’m not a flash fan boy and wish 3d tech would kick off but in order to generate revenue in this economy you need to be able to also reach critical mass.

Any thoughts? How do we increase the web player install base?

As a game developer where do you put your resources these days social sites, iOS, fragmented Android, future tablets?

anyhow just a rant and curious what someones exp has been.

Um dont bash me if im wrong…But i watched the unite 2010 and they said unity and google are working hard to make it where you won’t need to install anything to play unity games as long as your using google chrome.

That UT is working on NaCl support is known since the Google IO in summer 10 :slight_smile:

Having Unity in Chrome natively is a great step in the right direction , but of course that could be a while.

Still begs the question about Unity and Facebook, will the casual social gamer install a plugin to the point where it makes sense for developers to jump on. Nothing us more tasty than having a network of a 500 mill users to pick :slight_smile:
