Unity and Memory

If I have a project open on my computer and from a restart it takes 600 megs of ram to open, and the guy sitting next to me opens the same project, and every time it takes 1.6 gigs of ram to open, what is going on?

We’re both running iMacs with 4 gigs of memory, but his is a slightly newer one.

Further more, when I run our game in the editor it takes 700 megs total, when he runs it, 2.3 gigs.

What could cause a discrepency like this?

Is he doing a build as well? It’s the build process that compresses the textures.
