Unity and our conversational A.I. working together.

First of all, I used to run the Software Tools Group at Disney Interactive and the Graphics Tools Group at EA, so as an “experienced” user, I want to compliment the developers of Unity on a job well done.

Second of all, I have recently managed to get my company’s conversational intelligence system up and running as a deploy-able component within the Unity environment.

We already have some level of third-party game engine support for other technologies, but I think that the “Unity” version of our core has the potential for the tightest integration so far.

Again, nice work on a great piece of software. Like everyone else, I can’t wait for v2.5. :smile:

Welcome to Unity, and to the community!

@CogCode, that is really great!

Guys like Jeremy and I have been around awhile, Jeremey esp.
In early days we scrambled for the occasional example of development, and then the tutorials started flowing and now theres so many user created add-ons its really hard to keep up!

Unity is certainly a unique environment to work in both for artists and coders. As an artist, I am freed from my cage, and if I was a high end coder, there would be no ceiling…

Go forth and create, and keep us posted…

Welcome to the party!

Looking forward to seeing your system in action.

Agree with the other old-timers, CogCode. Welcome to the community and your system sounds fantastic.

Welcome to the Community CogCode1

Can you describe how your AI works?

Thanks for the warm welcome, all. :smile:

@dingo:

Our AI system is very complex, so to get into “how it works” would take pages and pages.

But at a high level, we focus on practical applications by providing a development platform for creating and deploying conversational applications.

We have a graphic IDE for developers, a rich API, and runtimes for just about any OS or mobile device.

Our site has more info, including a fairly long video of a talk that I gave to an ACM AI group.

Also, there is another video up there from 2006 that shows a conversation with an early version of the conversational core.

Wow, I just watched that 2006 demo. You could have been following a script that you set up beforehand, but it doesn’t seem that way with some of the digressions. Color me impressed.

@CogCode: welcome aboard! :smile:

Glad you liked it. :smile:

And yes, that is a video of a free-form conversation, with no script.

As you can imagine, we’ve made a lot of advances since then. :smile:

A lot of advances? I’d love to see some more recent videos. Think you’ll post some of the Unity related stuff soon?

Funny coincidence: I am currently re-reading “Robot: Mere machine to transcendent mind” by Hans Moravec right now.
