What versions of XCode are compatible with what versions of Unity? I currently have Unity 5.1.2f1, and it’s NOT working with XCode 7 Beta.

Thanks!

I have the same issue. Hoping someone can work this out.

I believe that you need to switch the bitcode setting to “No” in the Xcode project build settings. You may want to try the 5.1.4 release when it is available, as this the default.

Okay 😄 I will try 5.1.4. When is it coming out? I have set NO to the ENABLE BITCODE setting, and it gives me 13 additional errors along with the “Linking command error” that I am currently getting.

BTW: I’m also getting 701 warnings from XCode, saying things like “InterfaceOrientation is deprecated.” Is this a problem with Unity not being up-to-date with XCode 7 Beta? It really sucks ☹
Hopefully it’s fixed soon!

I believe that 5.1.4 will be released next week. What are the additional errors and warnings in Xcode? Are these new in Xcode 7? In other words, does the same project compile without problems in Xcode 6?

Not sure, I still have to try it. I don’t like downloadingn too many XCode’s, because they take up so much space XD

@ExbowFTW

I understand. 🙂 If you don’t want to try this, that is fine. I suspect the warnings are benign, as I’ve been using Xcode 7 beta for a while now without seeing any problems.

Mkay. Have you tried building something from Unity 5.1.2 over to XCode 7 Beta? If you do that and it’s working for you, I’m definitely doing something wrong.

@ExbowFTW

Yes, that combination is working for me. There may be something specific in the project causing a problem as well. If possible, you can submit a bug report this is project and we can investigate.

Sorry, I’m kinda new to the Unity Community. What is, exactly, a bug report? Do I just say my bug? Do I also have to give them my project? Or…?

Just FYI: This is what it actually says in the Console:

**"…/UnityAds/UnityAds.framework/UnityAds(UnityAds)’ does not contain bitcode. You must rebuild it with bitcode enabled (Xcode setting ENABLE\_BITCODE), obtain an updated library from the vendor, or disable bitcode for this target. for architecture armv7**
**clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation) "**

I just shortened the file directory so that it only shows the end of it.

It has something to do with Unity Ads’s Framework.
I’m also getting 700 warnings, so Unity 5.1.2 is definitely not compiling right into XCode 7 Beta.

Unity 5.2 came out. Is it something that I should try?

@ExbowFTW

You can try 5.2, but it might be easier to get an updated version of 5.1, maybe 5.1.3p2, where the bit code value is set correctly. However, even with the version you have, you can set the Enable bitcode value in Xcode manually, as mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

If you do need to submit a bug report, you can use the Help \> Submit a Bug option in the editor, and fill in the fields there. Note that code this cause we will need to see your project to reproduce the build error. However, I suspect that changing in the bitcode settings will correct the issue.

I sent out the Bug Report, privately. Hopefully someone answers 😄
