my nickname on Unity Answers, when I write a post, appears as “Daniele” (which is actually marked as my real name, and as such it shouldn’t show), while when I write a comment it appears as “Izitmee”. Looks like a quite big bug, and I know it happens to others too.
Where does it say it doesn’t show your real name? (genuinely curious, I don’t recall reading that but I tend to skim things so… eh)
As far as I know it’s always been this way - ‘real name’ is for answers / questions, ‘nickname/screen name’ is for comments (where shortness is desired).
No, it had correct behavior until after the UDN switchover (where they added a lot of other bugs too). It makes no sense to display two different names for the same user.
Well, if a “real name” field is used, somewhere it should be stated (not stating anything, as it is now, should mean that it’s not used, since that’s common form :P). Anyway the “name for questions, nick for comments” thing started happening when Answers was “merged” into UDN, and it’s super-confusing so it can only be considered a bug, imho.
