Unity Asset Server for Windows

So I decided to spend the night trying to get the linux port of the asset server to run under Win2k8’s subsystem for unix.

I got pretty far into it, had much of the install process working, when I started to hit the real … ‘meat and potatoes’ of the server side.

They have a few minor tweaks that are a plugin for PostgreSQL. It seems that really thats all there is to the server.

I tried and tried to compile the plugins on my windows machine (but vista is giving me a problem with launching the msys terminal).

Would it be possible for a unity dev guy to give us a compiled version of the extension (compiled against the windows libraries for psql) ?

It’s the last piece of the puzzle for me getting the asset server to run entirely native in windows (without any need of a subsystem).

Of course, I may be missing something  and there might be more to it … but hey …thats why I’m posting here to see what everyone else thinks.

bump

No. Our engineers are full-tilt on priority tasks and producing this isn’t in the cards for a while. Check back again after the new year and we can possibly see about it but remember, you’re doing something we don’t support and so this will get very low priority (not trying to be harsh, just honest to set expectations).

Can we expect to see a Asset Server for Windows with the 2.5 once it happens?
I assume so, right?

Assumptions are dangerous and right now I cannot answer that to the affirmative with confidence. Please just hang in there for details as we’ll know more about this as we get closer to the release.

Sure sure

Thank you
