Unity at Autodesk Conference?

It looks like a lot of Unity companies and teams use Autodesk products (3ds Max, Maya, etc) as part of their pipeline. Will Unity be @ the Autodesk Conference coming up at the end of this month?

Tumbleweeds going by…

A quick Google search, and a browse through Autodesk’s own website suggests not.

I don’t think there’s any real need for them to be there anyway: 3ds max, Maya and the rest output data you simply drop into Unity. There isn’t a lot to it.

Autodesk’s customers run the gamut from industrial manufacturing pre-vis right through to oil pipeline design. The games industry is just one of many that Autodesk sell to. I don’t see Adobe (Flash, Director) on the attendee list either. Or Epic (Unreal Engine).

Well, Unity differs from Epic and other engines in that it’s primarily a visual interface/GUI that you basically drag and drop stuff into – a 3ds Max or even Maya user with little experience in programming could basically very quickly get a game together in Unity. The attendance @ Autodesk Con is primarily creators, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we rope in a couple more users…

Adobe has some significant presence in the breakout sessions and courses at Autodesk Conference. Moreover, Adobe Acrobat/Reader is used for the main conference materials (booklet, lecture slides, etc), so that’s on a different perspective – Adobe technically doesn’t need the extended PR, since they are on par with Autodesk.

Anyway, just thought Unity could use some extended publicity. And of course, as a potential Unity Pro user, I’d love to be able to snag a Unity Pro conference deal!
