Unity Certified Associate Programmer Exam

I just passed the Unity Certified User programmer Exam and I saw that they just released the Associate programmer exam. I don’t see any sort of practice exams for courseware for this exam. Has anyone taken it before?

Also I’m considering just taking the Expert exam and just skipping the associate. Is the Expert programmer exam that much harder than the User? I passed by a reasonable margin, the questions were not that bad it was just the amount of questions I had to get through for a 50 min time limit that made it tough.

thanks in advance.

Same here. I couldn’t see any practice exams for Associate Developer exam. It would be better at least if there are 4-5 examples on the documentation!

I see they now have a practice test and courseware for this exam. I sent the Unity / pervue folks and email to see if its new courseware or the same one for the associate game dev exam. Haven’t received a reply yet.

Anyone purchase this exam / bundle yet?

Couldn’t find the practice test…

Here it is:

I hope it is helpful.

I am going to take Unity Certified Associate: Programmer too.

I just went through all the courseware for CA: Programmer. First let me say this courseware is NOT a walkthrough! It is broken into four parts and each part there are any where from 3 to 5 sessions which gives you the Challenge or Tasks then expects you to attempt to complete those on your own, it does give you a possible solution since with programming there can be many solutions, there is also an extra challenge per session and a list of resources you can look up to get more information about those tasks. (BUT even though this is a new courseware, some are out dated and you will have to do some searching). And to answer a question above: No, it is not the same as CA: Game Dev. or at least it’s not the same as the one I have with Zombie Toys.

@slaidlaw911

I want to ask how long it took to get prepared for certified user exam?
i am newbie on Unity and just dealing with 2D games. XD

I had been working in unity for an hour or 2 a day for about 2 years when I passed the exam. It’s pretty challenging. I was getting 95% on the practice exams and I passed the exam with a 76%. If given another 15 or so minutes more I feel I would have done significantly better but I just ran out of time. It’s just surge sheer amount of questions within the questions.

As for what I studied, the majority was gamedev.tv courses and a few penny courses and a few extra c# courses as well. I have also made a few different projects and participated in a few game jams.

Good luck on your exam.

Which one did you take?

Programmer User exam.

Anyone know the time limit or the amount of questions on the exam? Practice test is 63 in 50 mins. Pretty tight.

I have passed both Unity certified user: programmer exam and unity certified: professional exam. The user exam is extremely simple compared to the professional and requires just the basics of unity and programming. I imagine the expert will be a much larger gap from the user exam then.

Hi buddy. Can you tell a few example questions from memory from the ‘certified user: programmer’ test? I’m developing an offline Unity course and would like to know what areas to cover to have 100% pass rate for my students. Thank you a lot in advance! And if anyone here knows about the Associate level, I’d like to know about that as well, as I’m not sure which one to choose for my students

Take the Junior Programmer pathway at learn.unity.com. That was my path to the cert and I got it done. I am not a junior programmer, and was probably able to go at a better clip than one. Still great foundational material, very well put together.

I also bought the practice exam, which was helpful in bridging the flavor of the Pathway above, and the flavor of the exam. One is gamefied and interesting, one is all business.

I have heard bad things about the courseware, and didn’t need it to pass the exam.

Can anyone tell me about the exam structure for the Unity Certified Associate: Programmer Certification and what do I need to prepare in order to get through the exam.

Believe the best way to prepare is similar to the Game Developer test, Im bout to take mine and I have heard you just need a “Intermediate” knowledge on Unity. If you can program Indie Games on Itch.io and make it pretty high on some game jams and your comfortable with the coding aspect, then you should already be prepared for it!

But once again this is coming from someone who is just about to take it not someone who has
So TLDR be comfortable with MonoBehavior and C# overall, to the point where you could release some Indie games
